Laughter Yoga was created in 1995 by a medical doctor in India and at that time he had one “Laughter Club” consisting of 5 people – now over 20 years on there are over 10,000 Laughter Clubs in over 70 countries in the world.
Laughter Yoga doesn’t need special clothing, there are no Warrior poses or Sun Salutations and it doesn’t involve telling jokes or sharing the same sense of humour. Laughter Yoga consists of using laughter exercises to initially simulate laughter which before long turns into genuine infectious laughter and combines this with yogic breathing – hence it’s called Laughter Yoga.
The session includes a “laughter meditation” which is an amazing experience and very cathartic followed by a relaxing Yoga Nidra (a guided relaxation exercise).
The benefits of Laughter Yoga are too many to list here but below are a few:
Sally Robinson is a qualified Laughter Yoga Teacher and can lead Laughter Yoga classes; icebreakers or corporate events as well as train other people to be Laughter Yoga Leaders (this enables people to run a Laughter Club but they cannot train other people to do the same).
If you are interested in how laughter can help your business and would like to discuss a pilot programme to measure the benefits and positive impacts, please get in touch with Sally.
